Give

Since our earliest days, Mountain Sun has been committed to maintaining tuition rates that are affordable to families in our area who feel their children would thrive in this environment. We are still fully dedicated to this tenet and our current tuition remains far below comparable schools in the region. In order to sustain this commitment, we need the support of a broad community of donors. Mountain Sun Community School fundraisers in a variety of ways in order to cover the difference between the cost of tuition and the cost of operating the school.

One major way we do this is by having an annual campaign each school year. Donations to our annual fund support the inspired education we are able to provide the children of this community. Because of the annual campaign we are able to continue to support our students by giving them a beautiful classroom environment, field experiences, technology, and a community that strives to provide the best education possible. Your gifts also make the school affordable to a wider range of students, bringing your child the many benefits of social and economic diversity.

Mountain Sun Community School is an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit, independent school in Brevard, NC. Donations are used to enhance our students’ learning experience or offer tuition assistance for those in need.

We are thankful for any and all donations, large and small. It is through your generosity that we are able to offer a Montessori-based learning environment where children can thrive personally and be challenged academically.

*All donations are tax deductible according to the law.

Planned Giving

Planned gifts allow your values to leave a legacy. Whether a donor uses cash, appreciated securities/stock, real estate, artwork, partnership interests, personal property, life insurance, a retirement plan, etc., the benefits of funding a planned gift can make this type of charitable giving very attractive to both donor and charity.

Matching Gifts

Your gift to MSCS may have an even greater impact if your employer offers a matching gift program. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions or volunteer hours made by their employees.

Gifts of Stock

Giving stock that has been held more than 12 months offers a two-fold tax savings: a tax-deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift and avoidance of capital gains.

Business Sponsorships

It is with great pleasure that we offer organizations a great opportunity to become a valuable sponsor of MSCS. As a nonprofit, independent school we rely on our greater community for support. As a way to show our appreciation, and direct traffic to our community partners, we are offering a community sponsorship from September through June of the academic year.

Donations of Goods and Services

In-kind contributions are donations of goods, services or time. Tangible goods include things like equipment, works for the classrooms, books, furniture and supplies. Servicess may include time in the classroom, subbing in classrooms, providing childcare during community meetings, and helping students with projects.

Financial Assistance Donations

Financial donations support the mission to make holistic, whole-child, inspired education possible for all students. A donation to financial aid doesn’t stop at administrative costs; every dollar donated ends up making an impact many times over. That dollar benefits individuals, families, and the community.

IRA Charitable Giving

Individual Retirement Account (IRA) owners over age 70 may make a transfer of up to $100,000 per year to qualified charities. IRA charitable rollovers are tax-free and not included in adjusted gross income.
